Festival Fever

Had a couple of days at Trafalgar Square, covering Diwali In London and Africa In The Square, both exciting events for me. I take a lot of seemingly similar shots, as the postures, arrangements of people, and clearance of obstructions like the dreaded (for photographers) mike stands make for subtle differences that can improve or detract from a shot. My contributions are shared with the organisations and performers, so it is good to feature as many people on stage as possible
.
Still images convey some of the colour, artistry and energy of the musicians and dancers, but are essentially record shots, with the occasional more "artistic" frame. Crowd shots I like too, as the Square is so packed with people, some of whom seem to stand at the front at the stage barrier for the whole event.

The "Pit", where I am, is often busy, and we photographers jostle each other for the best positions, swapping places so everyone has the ideal position for some of the time. News people have to meet deadlines and want a few choice shots to use, and now wi-fi is prevalent on cameras, it is easier to get the shots to their Picture Desk quickly.
